Species of Tree: Maple / Bordo

Post by Kangas on Thu Sep 10, 2015 5:52 pm

In September we will be talking about trees. This week we talk about the maple  tree. This tree is the symbol of Canada where the famous Maple Syrup comes from.

The maple tree belong to the Acer Genus, which have a great number of species worldwide, mainly in the Northern Hemisphere. Usually maple is translated as “bordo” in Portuguese, however there are a few native species of the Acer genus, like Acer Pseudoplatanus, called Plátano Bastardo, and Acer monspessulanum which has the Portuguese name of Zelha.
