Another great example of words that can easily be confused is the homographs ...

I used Richard Nordquist's About.com Guide as reference for this study.

  • Homographs

    Homographs are words that share the same spelling but have different origin and meaning. Sometimes they also have different pronounciation too.
    Example: bear (v. to carry, to endure), bear (a mammal from the Ursidae family)
