In June we will talk about anatomy. The word we’ve chosen for this week was hypophysis.

Usually called pituitary gland or simply pituitary, the hypophysis is gland that is attached to the base of the brain and is responsible for the production of hormones which affect growth, sexual development and other functions. In Portuguese it is translated as “hipófise” or “glândula pituitária”.

Em Junho falamos-lhe de Anatomia. A palavra que escolhemos para esta semana foi “hypophysis”.

Normalmente chamada de “pituitary glande” or apenas “pituitary”, a ‘hypofisis” é uma glândula que se situa na base do cérebro e que é responsável pela produção de hormonas que afectam o crescimentos, desenvolvimento sexual entre outras funções. Em português traduz-se por hipófise ou glândula pituitária.
