Explanation/Explicação

Going on holidays is always a very exciting time especially when you go on holidays overseas. But sometimes travelling through an airport can be complicated, especially if you don’t know the local language and are not familiar with aviation/tourism language.

Most of the times you will find that English terms prevail and are widely accepted internationally, since English is considered an universal language. However, your country may have its own terms and that may cause confusion.

Boarding Pass is one of those terms that is used around the world and accepted by most countries. However the Portuguese Language also have a term for this card. In Portuguese you can call it “Cartão de Embarque”.  This card is given to the passenger at the check-in desk and it has all the flight information for that particular passenger. It has the Gate he or she should go to board the flight, the seat allocated to them, flight number, destination and airline info. Without this card a passenger is not allowed to border a flight.
